Share Certificates are perfect if you desire a longer term investment with a guaranteed rate. Certificates allow you to earn a higher yield on your money. Funds are often deposited to save for a specific purchase such as a new car, a down payment on a home, college tuition, or retirement. Certificates are an excellent method of building savings for future cash needs.

High Yields

Share Certificates usually pay a higher rate of interest than other savings accounts. Interest is paid monthly and is added back to the certificate, which increases the earnings to the member. Interest earned may also be paid directly to you or deposited to your Share Savings or Checking account. NUFCU certificates are federally insured up to $250,000 by the NCUA.

Various Terms

You may choose any term from 3 to 60 months. The interest rate is set at the time the certificate is issued and is fixed for the term of the certificate. As a convenience, certificates automatically renew at maturity at the current rate unless you choose to withdraw the funds. There is a penalty for withdrawing the funds before the maturity date.

Low Minimum Balance

Certificates are available even with a small deposit. A minimum balance of only $500 is required to purchase a certificate. This makes it easier to begin a structured, safe investment plan.
